Step 1 Draft the By-Law
Using DIY By-Laws you can easily add your lot details, select what areas you are renovating and attach the relevant plans to create a by-law and motion instantly! Your by-law will describe any impact there may be to common property (for example, waterproofing in bathroom, moving plumbing or external walls).
Step 4 The General Meeting
Your motion will be discussed at the AGM and details will be reviewed. Then a vote will be taken by all owners attending (and via proxy) the AGM on your motion. This will be specially resolved and you will get approval or could be asked to provide changes or more detail. A majority vote will get this approved.

There are 7 steps to making a renovation by-law (see FAQ 5):
Step 1 – Draft the renovation by-law.
Step 2 – Submit the renovation by-law for inclusion in the next general meeting notice / agenda.
Step 3 – The notice / agenda is issued.
Step 4 – The general meeting occurs and both the renovation works and proposed renovation by-law are approved by special resolution.
Step 5 – Consolidation of the new by-law with the scheme’s registered by-laws.
Step 6 – Lodgment and registration of the new consolidated by-laws.
Step 7 – Start your renovations.
We can help you draft your renovation by-law in two different ways:
1. prepare your own by-law using our DIY platform; or
2. get in contact with us by email or phone if you would like one of our experienced team to assist you in drafting the by-law.
Note that if your renovation by-law is not approved at a general meeting, depending on the circumstances, you may have standing to seek an NCAT order for the by-law to be made.
